Downtown Cruise In
Cruise-Ins are located in the historic Athens downtown square from 3 p.m. until around 10 p.m. rain or shine on the Saturdays listed to the right for 2010. Cruise-Ins are arranged by the Athens Car Travelers.
Two hundred cars arrived during the July 2003 show from areas such as Dalton, GA, Newport, TN, Crossville, TN, and surrounding counties. Spectators will view cars from pre-’49 street rods and originals, ’50 era cars that include ’55-’57 Chevys, ’60-’70 muscle cars and late model to modified present-day cars.
Food booths include Athens’ famous Burkett’s BBQ, hotdogs, funnel cakes and lemonade. Visitors can also enjoy dinner at several of our downtown restaurants.
The event is free and open to the public.
Downtown streets will be blocked beginning at 3 p.m. Parking lots will be available.
Take I-75 exit 49, Highway 30 East to Red Light D7 (Jackson St.) then turn right to downtown or take Highway 411 to Highway 30 West to College St., then turn left or go to Red Light D7 and then turn left to downtown.
